Why ending hunger is important to EDFU................

We highlighted the importance of Sustainable Goal #1 last week: No Poverty. In order for the world to achieve this goal, we must work together to end hunger and food insecurity or we will fail at eliminating poverty. Part of EDFU's mission statement is to provide public health and improve the human condition. To do this, we believe it is important for all of humanity to have access to clean food and sustainable agriculture.

What EDFU is doing to  help end hunger and food insecurity:

Every week, EDFU provides free food to the Oakland, CA, USA community through our Bay Area Street Pantry program. There is no qualification check or information needed. We provide for anyone who is hungry or in need of food. Our street pantry aims to end both hunger and eliminate food insecurity.

How to get food and help:

Picture
The Bay Area Street Pantry operates every Tuesday at the Melrose Branch Library in Oakland, CA, USA. If you are in need of food for any reason then come to the library at 11:30am. We typically run out of bags just after 12pm.

Help
  • Volunteers are needed at the library from 10am-11:30am to help pack bags and setup to handout food.
  • Volunteers are needed from 11:30am-1:00pm (typically we are finished an hour or so early) to pass out food to the community and clean up.
  • We're also looking for volunteers to coordinate food pick-up runs throughout the week!
