Fundraiser for the Ylê Asé de Yansa 

We've raised $185 so far! That's 6% of our goal to $3,000 in donations by October 22nd!

We thank everyone who has donated so far, but we are in great need of more! Please, donate if you can and share on your platforms, so that others may become aware of this great campagin!

Our president, Sheldon Williams, is going to Sao Paulo, Brazil in a week to physically help the Ylê Asé de Yansa rebuild their community building which as caved in and flooded. They are in need of supplies to help them build another building where they can teach and heal their tribe.

The Ylê Asé de Yansa have been greatly affected by COVID-19 and with schools not in session, the children of their community cannot learn, because they do not have access to computers. EDFU Foundation aims to give them at least 2 laptops in order to help them access information and continue their education. We will also use some of the money to help the Ylê Asé de Yansa purchase necessary items for them to rebuild their community center.

The Permanent Forum on People of African Descent

Update:

EDFU Foundation and the working group met with the state department this Friday October 15th. Negotiations continue to be ironed out and financial discussions are  constantly being worked on. If you are able to help or would like to be involved please email us: [email protected]. The location of the event has not yet been decided and we continue to work with all parties involved to build upon this momentum and provide the most resources possible.

Bay Area Street Pantry

every TUESDAY at 11:30am
Melrose Library - Oakland, CA, USA

The Bay Area Street Pantry continues to operate every Tuesday at 11:30am PST in Oakland, CA at the Melrose Branch of the Oakland Public Library system. We are now averaging 110 bags given away to the community every week and typically we run out in 30-45 minutes, so please be on time if you want a bag! 

We have welcomed new and returning volunteers in the last month and it has been wonderful to see and meet everyone! We are always looking for help! So, if you are able to volunteer, please sign up!

Help Needed:

• Volunteers are needed at the library from 10am-11:30am to help pack bags and setup to handout food.
• Volunteers are needed from 11:30am-1:00pm (typically we are finished an hour or so early) to pass out food to the community and clean up.
• We're also looking for volunteers to coordinate food pick-up runs throughout the week and on Tuesdays from 9:45am-10am.

Don't forget about our Hygiene Fundraiser for the holidays! We are trying to raise $3,000 to be able to provide our community with soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other hygiene products we cannot normally give throughout the year.
